Roman Shield
There are several different ways of constructing a wetroom, there are however some basic principles that must be observed - these are:

The floor may be screeded, constructed from heavy duty wooden sheets such as plywood, or created using a pre-made shower tray former. In all cases there must be a gradual slope to fall towards an appropriate shower outlet.

The structure must be solid, without flexing and any joints in the construction material must be firm and well fitting.

The body of the shower outlet must be recessed or cast into the floor in such a way that the top of the flange is on a level, or fractionally lower than the floor surrounding it. There can be no upwards step into the shower outlet.

Roman Shield can not be used directly over conventional narrow wooden floorboards, such boards must be replaced or covered with a sheet material such as plywood

About the Impey Wet Room Waterproofing System
The Impey Tilesafe Membrane is a cold-applied, self-adhesive, waterproof membrane, which consists of a thick ruberised waterproof layer, incorperating a woven glass fibre mesh on one side.

This Wet Room Waterproofing Kit has been developed for use prior to the application of ceramic tiles which are applied using a conventional adhesive which keys to the mesh. As the adhesive dries, it forms a strong permanent bond through the mesh and directly onto the waterproofing layer. Impey Tilesafe Wet Room Waterproofing Kits can be fixed to ply, masonry, concrete or plasterboard to form a secure internal watertight structure. And because there is no curing time, you can tile the same day.
